R.A.B. and the Locket

Regulus Black and the Locket

The intriguing letters R.A.B. (not intriguing anymore, as we all know they refer to Regulus Black) might prove Sirius (may god bless his mysteriously departed soul) seriously wrong. He told Harry that Regulus was quite an unimportant person according to Voldemort’s standards and probably wasn’t even killed personally by him, but he was the one who became the Bond managed to steal his well-guarded Horcrux.

Well, it all quite fits. Regulus, following Black family tradition, joined the Dark Lord, but like Sirius, his moral vein got hurt when he saw the real evil of Voldemort. He must have done something evil and would be hit with a wave of remorse (like Snape felt after giving the contents of the prophecy to Voldemort), and then decided torectify his mistake by making Voldemort mortal by destroying his horcrux. He must have thought that the locket was the only horcrux, as he wrote in his note that destroying it would make Voldemort mortal.
Voldemort would not have known it (as Dumbledore told Harry that he would not know when his Horcrux is destroyed), and thought Regulus's rebellion as petty.

Something interesting: Read OOTP, Pg 108, 4th paragraph. a line says: a heavy locket that none of them could open. Now don't you wonder what this locket could be ??? yes, its must be the same horcvrux and its no coincidence that it was found in The Noble and Most Ancient House of Black, in Regulus's residence.

  • What about Mr. Borgin?? We don't learn his first name anywhere.... Burke's first name is "Caractacus".

  • The heavy locket in book 5 could not be the same was the horcrux locket since that one was Slytherin's and thus engraved with images of snakes. The heavy locket found in the Black house is not described in that way. Most people think that locket was thrown away, but Rowling never says what happens to the bags that they put the Black house rubbish in. Seems unlikely they'd be hauled off to the Muggle trash.

  • JKR stated in an interview that the letter A. is Alphard. This was Sirius's favorite uncle who left him a nice inheritance. Hope this helps. KMRN
